Rates & costs: the rates for costing

Hourly rates for qualifications and employees, machine rates per station, overhead surcharges — and what happens when a rate is missing.

Every costing is only as good as its rates. These are maintained on the Settings → "Rates & Costs" page — "Manage hourly rates for qualifications, employees and machines." — for admin and planner.

The six blocks

  • Currency — EUR, CHF or USD for the entire business.
  • Qualification and employee hourly rates — each with the "Cost (€/h)" column, i.e. the internal costs of one hour of work. The fallback chain: if the employee has their own rate, that applies; otherwise the rate of their qualification.
  • Machine hourly rates — the "Machine rate (€/h)" per station, for work steps at machines.
  • Overhead surcharges — percentages with a selectable calculation basis: "Total costs", "Material costs", "Labor costs" or "Machine costs". This way rent, administration and vehicle fleet are proportionally included in every costing.
  • Anfahrtszonen (travel zones) — tiered prices for the travel flat rate; in the quote the matching zone is proposed based on the distance stored on the customer.
  • Vorlagen für sonstige Kosten (templates for other costs) — recurring incidental costs such as disposal or packaging, which can be inserted as a free position with stored prices.

Distinction: The cost rates (costs) are shown here. The sales hourly rates — what is charged to the customer — reside on the qualification catalog in the master data. Incidentally, the blocks for qualification, employee and machine rates only appear once the respective master data exists.

Auch bekannt als: hourly rates, machine rate, overhead, surcharge, costing rates.
