For metalworking shops

Workshop and field service —
one plan for both.

Gates, railings, repairs: your team works in the workshop and at the customer at the same time. Gantway shows at a glance who is doing what — including who is out on the road right now.

Gantway My Work — time clock and personal tasks on the tablet

Time clock on the phone or tablet: fitters book their hours directly against the order while on the road. No note in the van, no follow-up questions.

A typical metalworking shop

Six people,
three sites, one day plan.

6
Employees — master craftsman, journeymen, mobile fitters
15
parallel orders: new builds, repairs, large orders
3–5
on-site measuring appointments per week at the customer
2–3
fitters out at the same time — workshop keeps running

In this metalworking shop no day is like the other. Repairs come in, assembly slots have to be coordinated, and the master craftsman steers it all from memory — because there is nothing that takes it over.

Das Problem

What costs time every day,
without anyone counting it.

01

No overview of active orders.

Five new builds, eight repairs, two large orders — all running at the same time. Which order is pressing today, which one can wait? That is written down nowhere.

02

Fitter sets off, missing material only shows up at the customer.

The profile is missing, the screw has the wrong thread, the lock is the wrong type. Drive 20 kilometers back or push the work to tomorrow — either way it costs.

03

Timesheets from the field come in late.

What the fitter did at the customer's ends up on a note in the van at some point. Or you ask on Friday. The post-costing still isn't quite right.

04

A repair call pushes everything else.

A broken gate motor, the customer waiting. You push a workshop order, send a fitter out — and only see in the evening what that means for the rest of the week.

05

Who does what today? Clarified anew every morning.

Who stays in the workshop, who drives out, who has which measuring appointment? Without a written day plan this runs on shouted instructions — and when the boss isn't there, it stalls.

Wie Gantway hilft

What Gantway
does for metalworking shops.

Time clock with a large clock-in button

Time clock on the phone — press and done.

The fitter arrives at the customer, presses start. When they leave, they press stop. The hours land automatically on the right order. No note, no follow-up questions on Friday afternoon.

To time tracking

Station utilization with traffic-light colors in Gantway

Digital desk on the tablet — on site too.

Open orders, capture notes, see material requirements: everything runs on the tablet, even without an office. The fitter sees their order, the master craftsman sees the day's status.

Orders in progress with progress bars

Material check before departure — not after.

Open the order, see the material list, mark missing items. What isn't there stands out before the van is gone — not only at the customer's.

To material planning

Station overload as a conflict marker

Schedule a repair call right away, without moving everything.

The conflict engine shows which orders are affected when an emergency job comes in. You decide what waits — Gantway works through the consequences.

Planned and actual values as KPI tiles in controlling

Post-costing for repairs that are done quickly.

Even a short repair job costs time and materials. Pre-/post-costing shows what went into it — even when no quote preceded it.

Tasks with status badges inside an order

Order overview for all 15 active orders.

New builds, repairs, large orders in one view — with status, deadline and who is responsible. No order slips through.

What makes metalworking shops special

Mobile jobs and workshop days —
in the same plan.

In a metalworking shop, office, workshop and site are three different places — and all three have to be coordinated daily. Gantway is built for exactly that: not for the one or the other, but for both at the same time.

Day plan: who stays, who drives

A morning glance: which fitters are on external jobs today, who works in the workshop, what is scheduled for today. No round of phone calls, no note on the pinboard.

Running repairs alongside new builds

Repairs often run without a quote, come in at short notice and are done in two hours. Gantway still gives them their own order, a status and a time account — so the billing is right.

Qualifications in view

Welding certificate, aerial platform license, driver's license: who is allowed to take which job? Gantway shows during assignment whether the qualification is present.

Separate property managers and private customers

A large property manager with ten active orders on one side, private customers with individual repairs on the other — filterable by customer type in the CRM.

Was das in Zahlen heißt

Marge, Auslastung, Termine —
an einem Ort.

15 orders on one list: repairs, new builds, large orders. With status, customer and deadline — sortable, filterable.

  • 5-status workflow per order
  • Stale detection for stalled orders
  • Customer history per order

FAQ

Frequently asked questions. Answered briefly.

Does a metalworking shop need an ERP — or is production planning enough?

For most metalworking shops an ERP is too heavy and Excel too fragile. Gantway sits deliberately in between: orders, planning, hours, materials and costing in one system — without modules you never use. Built for businesses of 5 to 50 people.

How do I plan many small jobs in parallel without losing track?

On the digital desk all orders sit on one surface — prioritized by drag & drop, with utilization per employee. If two commitments collide, the conflict engine reports it before the customer notices.

The Digital Desk in detail

Can we track working hours in a legally compliant way?

Yes. The time clock checks against German working-time law in the background (breaks, maximum hours, rest periods), corrections require a reason and leave an audit trail, and the monthly close produces a PDF time record per employee.

What does Gantway cost for a metalworking shop?

Three plans by active accounts, payable monthly or annually. Scheduled employees without their own login are free, and the trial is 14 days free without a credit card.

What happens to our data if we cancel?

You take it with you. Every list can be exported as CSV at any time — not just when you cancel. Until then, the data sits on servers in Germany, GDPR-compliant.
