For paint shops

Three booths, 30 orders —
and every drying phase blocks the next.

Booth time cannot be shifted. Gantway shows you in real time which station is occupied, how long the drying still runs and which order can move in next.

Gantway digital desk — station utilization with traffic-light colors per booth

Each booth is a station with its own occupancy display. Drying time blocks the booth until it's really free.

A typical paint shop

Everything in the head
of the foreman.

15
employees: sanders, prep workers, painters, coaters
3
booths plus drying room and powder curing oven
30
parallel orders in various phases
4–24 h
drying time depending on product and paint
45 min
color-change cleaning that rarely makes it into the plan

The shop manager knows which booth frees up when. As long as he's there. The moment he's not there, the next order just drives in — and disturbs the previous one's drying.

Das Problem

Five problems
that cost you time every day.

01

Booth status? Only the foreman knows.

30 orders, three booths, drying room and oven — no one knows the current status off the cuff. Everyone asks the foreman. The foreman asks back.

02

Booth free, but drying still running.

The next order stands ready. The booth looks empty. But the previous one's paint still needs eight hours. Whoever doesn't see that drives in and ruins the order.

03

Sander done — painter not available right now.

Prep and painting are two different teams with different workloads. The handover usually works by shouting across the shop. Usually.

04

Color-change cleaning is in no plan.

45 minutes of cleaning between two color areas. Not in the daily plan, not in the costing. The next order waits until someone cleans the booth.

05

Only three employees are allowed to process premium paints.

Spray-painting certificate, cathodic dip-coating experience, powder coating — not everyone can do everything. During vacation or illness this becomes a problem that only comes up when assigning the work.

Booth planning
that knows reality.

Station utilization with traffic-light colors in Gantway

Booth utilization at a glance.

The digital desk shows each booth as its own station with current occupancy, running drying phase and the next free slot. No asking, no guessing.

View station utilization

Station overload as a conflict marker

Booth conflict detected automatically.

As soon as two orders occupy the same booth at the same time — or a drying phase blocks the follow-on order — the conflict engine flags the conflict before it becomes a problem.

Tasks with status badges inside an order

Phase chain prep → painting with dependencies.

Sanding, priming, drying, painting, curing oven: each phase as its own task, each dependency firmly anchored. The booth is only occupied once the previous step is truly complete.

Employee pool for assigning via drag & drop

Qualification check before scheduling.

Spray-painting certificate, cathodic dip-coating experience, powder-coater approval — Gantway knows your employees' qualifications and prevents an order from being assigned to someone who isn't allowed to carry it out.

Planned and actual values as KPI tiles in controlling

Machine hourly rate per booth in the costing.

Large booth, standard booth, curing oven — each station has its own hourly rate. Pre- and post-costing calculate with it automatically. No paint order goes out too cheap anymore.

Orders in progress with progress bars

Paint consumption documented per order.

RAL number, mixing ratio and quantity used are stored on the order. Post-costing, complaints and reordering thereby have a reliable basis.

What sets paint shops apart

Drying time
is not a buffer.

In hardly any other industry are there so many non-shiftable constraints in the daily routine. Drying time, booth cleaning and proof of qualification are not administrative overhead — they determine when the next order can start.

Drying time as its own task Color-change cleaning in the plan Phases prep → paint linked

Drying time as a hard slot

A drying phase can't be shortened. Gantway blocks the booth capacity for the entire defined drying time and only releases the next slot once the time has elapsed.

Color-change cleaning in the plan

The cleaning block between two color areas is created as its own task in the booth plan — with a realistic duration. It no longer disappears between two orders.

Powder curing oven as its own station

The oven has its own temperature profile and its own hold time. Batches can be bundled, utilization checked in advance — without notes on the oven.

Qualification before booth occupancy

Who is allowed to process which paint, who holds which certificate? Gantway checks this automatically when scheduling — vacation and sick-leave cover included.

Was das in Zahlen heißt

Marge, Auslastung, Termine —
an einem Ort.

Paint, hardener, cleaning agent, booth hour — everything captured, everything billed. Margin per order becomes a number.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions. Answered briefly.

How do I plan the sequence in a paint shop — prep, booth, drying?

In Gantway the work steps of an order form a chain with dependencies. If prep shifts, the booth slot and drying move along automatically — and if that squeezes another order, the conflict engine reports it with a suggested fix.

The conflict engine in detail

Will we see in time whether paints and consumables are sufficient?

Yes. Requirements arise from the orders; stock and purchase orders run in the same record. A task shows by itself whether its material is there — you reorder before the booth stands still.

Materials & procurement in detail

How do employees track their hours per order?

Via the time clock in the browser — including on a tablet in the hall. Hours land directly on the respective order and feed into post-costing: you see per order what it really cost.

What does planning software for a paint shop cost?

Gantway bills by active accounts, in three plans — people who are only scheduled cost nothing. Getting started: 14 days free trial, no credit card.

Does Gantway run without an installation at our business?

Yes, entirely in the browser — office PC, tablet or smartphone. No server in the basement, no manual updates; data is stored GDPR-compliant on servers in Germany.
