The audit log ("Chronological history of all audited events.") is the company-wide memory: every audited change, with person and timestamp. You find it under Settings → "Audit Log", at the bottom of the sidebar. It belongs to the Premium plan and is accessible to Admin and Planner.
Working with the log
There are two views: "Timeline" for chronological reading and "Table" for systematic searching (50 entries per page). You narrow things down using the filters "Entity type" (13 areas, from order through stock movement to permissions), "Event type", "Actor" and "From"/"To".
Each entry opens a detail view with the technical change data. Sensitive fields such as passwords or tokens are automatically redacted before saving; they appear in no record.
For auditors and archiving there is "Export CSV", limited to 10,000 entries per export. If there are more, Gantway reports this on download with the note "Export limited to 10,000 entries".
How long entries stay
The log does not grow forever. Once a week Gantway clears it out, separately by type of entry:
- security events (failed sign-ins, denied permissions): 12 months
- time tracking with time entries, attendance and month-end closings: 10 years
- all other business changes (orders, customers, articles, permissions …): 3 years
The ten years for time tracking are no accident. The entries themselves are kept permanently, and the proof that an hour was corrected afterwards has to be as available as the figure itself in a wage dispute or a tax audit. If you want to keep an older state, export it as CSV in good time.
