Recalculating deadlines
Changed the start date or the planning mode? Gantway shows in advance what would shift — and you decide. What stays fixed and what moves.
If you change the start date or the planning mode of an order, Gantway recalculates the item deadlines. But never without asking.
Both fields sit in the order's edit dialog: sidebar Orders → open the order → tab "Overview" → "Master data" card → "Edit". By default admins, planners and team leads may open it.
First the preview, then the decision
Before every shift, "Recalculate deadlines?" appears with the concrete impact: "Your change shifts {n} dependent item(s) … Items already in progress or completed remain unchanged." With "Apply deadlines" it happens, with "Don't move" everything stays put.
What is never moved
Three kinds of items are fixed points:
- Completed and in-progress: what is really running or has already happened is not re-dated.
- Pinned: deadlines deliberately locked down in the order Gantt.
Everything open and unpinned moves along the dependencies. The mechanics behind it are described in How the cascade pulls deadlines along.
Two special cases
- Backward scheduling: Items without an end date cannot be calculated backward by Gantway. They are skipped, with a warning per item. More under Backward scheduling.
- Completed and canceled orders are off-limits: "Deadlines in completed or canceled orders cannot be recalculated."
