Baseline: freezing the target state
Save the plan as a baseline before the project starts — and later see in the Gantt where reality diverges. Caution: updating overwrites.
Plans shift — the interesting question is: against what? The baseline freezes the plan state of an order so that later shifts become visible.
Creating and showing the baseline
The baseline belongs to the order Gantt. The way there: in the sidebar go to Orders → open the order → tab "Tasks" → button "Open Gantt view". Everything then sits in the "View" menu of the Gantt (bar chart) under "Baseline (target/actual comparison)":
- "Create baseline from current state" — saves the start and end of all scheduled work steps as target. If no steps are scheduled yet, Gantway reports: "No tasks with scheduling data available. Please schedule the tasks first."
- "Show baseline" — displays the target state as a comparison below the current bars; grayed out as long as no baseline exists.
- "Update baseline" and "Delete baseline" for maintenance.
The best moment to create it: right after release — then the target is the plan agreed as binding.
Admins, Planners and Team leads may create, update and delete.
