Canceling an order
Canceling is final — but Gantway cleans up as it does so: timers are saved and withdrawn material can go back into inventory. Here is exactly what happens.
An order that falls through is cancelled, not deleted. Cancelled is a final status with no way back.
How to cancel an order
- Open Orders in the sidebar and click the order.
- In the status card, click "Cancel order".
- Decide on the checkbox "Bereits für diesen Auftrag entnommenes Material ins Lager zurückbuchen" (return material already withdrawn for this order to stock). It is preselected; the note explains that withdrawals are booked back per order where they exist, and that you should switch it off if the material has been used up or damaged.
- Confirm the prompt: "Do you really want to cancel this order? This is final."
Only admin and planner may cancel orders.
What happens automatically on cancellation
- Running timers are stopped and the times flagged for review. No time accumulates on a dead order, but nothing is lost either.
- Withdrawn material goes back to stock, provided you leave the checkbox from step 3 in place.
Three limits
- Cancelling works from every status except Completed and Cancelled.
- A cancelled order can no longer be deleted; it stays as a record.
- There is no "un-cancel". If it was cancelled by mistake, the only remedy is duplicating the order as a fresh copy.
