Maintaining templates

Define recurring workflows once as a template: steps, default durations, stations, and sequences — managed centrally under Settings.

You manage templates at the bottom of the sidebar under Settings → "Workflow Templates". Admins and planners may edit them; everyone can view them.

What a template contains

Per step in the template:

  • Title — what the work step will be called later
  • Default duration — recorded either in hours or in working days
  • Station — optional, if the step always runs at the same place
  • "Starts after" — the dependency on the preceding step; this way the template brings its own sequence along
  • Milestone — for marker points in the workflow

Good to know when applying

How a template gets onto an order is described under Applying templates to an order. Three properties of the template itself:

  • The steps arrive without dates — scheduling only happens when planning them in or via "Recalculate dates".
  • Templates can no longer be applied to completed or canceled orders: "Templates cannot be applied to completed or canceled orders."
  • When applying, the template is copied — later changes to the template do not apply retroactively to existing orders. So that it remains traceable which version was in use where, Gantway keeps templates versioned (badge "Version").

Auch bekannt als: Template, create template, standard workflow, Work-step templates.
