The supplement: additional work on an ongoing order

Extra work on an accepted quote? A supplement is a separate add-on quote — when accepted, its line items flow into the main order.

Midway through the order, the customer wants more — an extra door, a changed detail. Touching the accepted quote would be wrong; that's what the supplement is for.

Creating a supplement

Via the sidebar Orders → open the order → the "Quotes" tab, "Create supplement" opens the dialog: "A supplement adds additional work to the accepted quote" — enter a title, done. Then: "Supplement created. Now add the additional line items."

The supplement is a standalone quote with its own number from the number range. It inherits customer data, VAT setting, and free texts from the main quote — but deliberately no discount: the terms of the additional work are decided anew.

A supplement is only possible for an accepted main quote ("A supplement can only be created for an accepted quote.") — and never for another supplement. By default, admin, planner and team lead may create one; only admin and planner can send it and set its status.

What happens on acceptance

The supplement goes through the normal quote workflow (Draft → Sent → Accepted, ideally via the customer portal). When the customer accepts:

  • the supplement's line items are added after the last line items of the main order,
  • the quote materials it contains become actual material requirements,
  • and the main order is rescheduled so the additional work fits.
