Discounts in a quote
As a percentage or a fixed amount, on a single line item or the entire quote — and the order in which the discounts are calculated.
Gantway can apply discounts on two levels, each in two forms: "Percentage (%)" or "Absolute (EUR)".
The two levels
- Line-item discount sits on the expanded line item in the "Offer Positions" card (sidebar → Offers → open the quote). The tooltip explains the order: "Discount on this line item. Applied before the overall discount."
- Overall discount applies to the whole quote and is managed in the "Texts & details" card.
The calculation cascades: first the line-item discount, then the overall discount on the already-discounted subtotal. So two 10% discounts amount to 19%, not 20.
The guardrails
- Percentage discounts: at most 100% ("Percentage discount may not exceed 100%."), no negative values.
- A single line cannot fall below 0; it is clamped to 0.
- And for the whole: "The discount may not push the quote total below 0."
Discounts can only be changed in Draft status. Once sent, the pricing is frozen; for new terms, there is the new version. By default, admin and planner set the overall discount; the line-item discount sits on the work step and is open to the team lead as well.
