Starting and stopping the task timer
One click on the timer icon and the order time is running. Why only one timer runs at a time and when Gantway discards a booking.
The timer icon sits right on the task — in the sidebar under "My Work" and on the Desk. A click starts the clock; you can see that it's running at any time from the indicator in the sidebar, wherever you happen to be.
One timer per person
Only one timer ever runs. If you start a second one, Gantway asks: "A timer is already running" — with the option "Stop & start new". Switching from task to task is therefore a single click, and duplicate time can never arise by accident.
What happens when you stop
The measured time is booked as order time. Two protective rules:
- Under 30 seconds is discarded, not booked — an accidental double-click doesn't create data junk.
- Timers only run on orders in the status "Released" or "In progress".
By default, every role except Purchasing/Warehouse may book time.
The alternative: "Book time"
Not every hour is stopped live. With "Book time" you enter time afterward — from fixed presets: up to 10 hours in quarter-hour steps, coarser above (half hours up to 12 hours, full hours beyond). The usual route for "yesterday afternoon it was three hours on the staircase railing".
