Understanding the working time account

The working time account answers the question that always matters at the end of the month: Did someone work more or less than agreed?

The overview

The "Time account" tab in the sidebar under Time Tracking shows, per month: opening balance, actual, target, balance, adjustment, closing balance, status. The "Adjustment" column is the manual balance correction that by default an Admin or Planner posts after a month has already been closed. The "Overtime balance" card provides a summary — "This week", "This month", "Current year"; it appears in the "Overview" tab as soon as you click an employee in the table there. How to read it: plus = worked more than the target, minus = worked less.

Everyone sees their own balance

The route via Time Tracking is open to admins and planners only — employees do not need it: in the time clock on "My Work", the section "Mein Zeitkonto" (my time account) shows their own standing, split into "Abgeschlossen bis {month} {year}" (closed up to) and "Seither" (since then), marked "vorläufig" (provisional). Where the target comes from

For each day, Gantway checks in this order:

1. Public holiday? → The target is 0. Nobody accumulates negative hours on Christmas.
2. Individual weekly profile? → Anyone who, according to their profile, works 6 hours on Tuesdays and 4 on Fridays gets exactly that as their target.
3. Otherwise: contract hours spread evenly across the working days.

Absences lower the target instead of counting as missing time: a vacation day sets the daily target to zero (half days pro rata). So vacation never creates negative hours — the account measures work against expected work, not attendance against the calendar.

When no target appears

• "No target" with the note "Contract hours not configured. Please enter them in the master data." — the employee is missing their contract hours.
• "Not yet configured — working time accounts are disabled." — the account is missing its start date under Settings → "Working Time Model", card "System start date (go-live)". Counting begins from this date; earlier time is left out.
