Month-end closing
The closing freezes a month for good — reopening is not possible. The prerequisites, the process, and the only way to make later corrections.

Month-end closing turns ongoing figures into a fixed record, the basis for payroll. It is triggered under Time Tracking → "Month-end closing"; by default, only Admin and Planner may perform it.
The prerequisites
Gantway only allows the closing once three things are in order:
- The previous month is closed. That way no gaps arise in the chain.
- The month is completely over: "Only fully elapsed months can be closed — the current month is still running."
- No open punches. Nobody is still "clocked in" in this month.
There is no going back — by design
The dialog says so before you click: "After closing, no more corrections can be made — only subsequent postings."
There is no function to reopen it. A closed month is a record. If it were open again, the payroll based on it would be worthless.
A practical rhythm: month ends, resolve open punches, make corrections, close. In this order, the subsequent posting is almost never needed.
