Using the time clock

You'll find the time clock in the sidebar under "My Work" — not under "Time Tracking"; that menu item belongs to the reports for admin and planner.

The course of the day

Four buttons guide you through the day: "Clock in" → "Break" → "Resume work" → "End of day". The current status is always shown alongside: "Not clocked in", "Working", "On break" or "Day ended". At the end of the day, Gantway asks once: "End the working day?"

Gantway checks the break rules when you clock out

Under the Working Hours Act, the following applies: for more than 6 hours of work, a 30-minute break; for more than 9 hours, 45 minutes. When you clock out, Gantway checks the day against these rules and shows anything unusual as a notice on the time clock. Three rules behind it:

• Break blocks under 15 minutes do not count as a break.
• Working days over 10 hours are flagged.
• A rest period under 11 hours until the next clock-in is likewise flagged.

Gantway warns — deciding and taking responsibility is up to you.

Back at it after the end of the day

If the widget already says "Arbeitstag beendet" (working day ended) and work continues anyway, the "Wieder einstempeln" (clock back in) button helps — the line underneath already says how it is counted: "Noch nicht fertig? Die Zeit seit dem Feierabend zählt als Pause." Gantway reopens today's record and books the gap since clocking out as a break, not as working time. The confirmation names the time: "Wieder eingestempelt um HH:MM Uhr."

This only works on the same day, and only if the day really has been ended — if it is still running, Gantway replies "Der Arbeitstag läuft bereits." (the working day is already running). A second end of day is therefore not a case for a later correction.

Good to know

• Night shifts are supported; a still-open shift must be ended before the next one begins.
• All times run on German time (Europe/Berlin).
