Creating master data

Master data are the resources onto which Gantway later schedules your work steps. A single slot or a single station is enough for this step to count as done and for you to move on.

By default, admin and planner may create and edit here.

How to create a slot

1. Open Settings → "Master Data", tab "Slots". From the setup checklist the step takes you straight there; otherwise you reach the settings at the bottom of the sidebar.
2. Click "Add slot".
3. First choose the "Type", for example "Workbench", "Assembly table" or the area "Material storage". The field is required. If none fits, pick "Other workplace" or "Other area". Machines and plants appear greyed out at the end of the list, because you create those under "Stations".
4. Enter a "Name" (at least 2 characters). The field suggests a name to match the type, such as "e.g. Workbench 1".
5. Check "Capacity (concurrent orders)", at least 1. Gantway pre-fills it based on the type: 3 for areas, 1 for everything else. For areas the field is called "Spaces (concurrent orders)".
6. Click "Save". Gantway confirms: "Slot created successfully." The slot then appears in the list.

How to create a station

The route is the same, just in the "Stations" tab: button "Add station", then first the "Type" (a machine such as "Saw", a plant such as "Paint / spray booth" or off-site work such as "Field work / construction site"), then "Name" and "Capacity (concurrent tasks)", then "Save". The hourly rate fields only appear for machines and plants.

As long as nothing has been created, the tab shows "No slots yet" or "No stations yet" respectively, with a button to add one. If you mistype something, "Edit slot" reopens the entry.

With the control room (Premium), the list also shows the "Control room" column: it names the hall in which the object is placed, or "Not placed" with the link "Place in control room".
