Setting up the control room: first hall and industry template

Create a hall, load an industry template and decide in the preview what is reused and what is created.

This feature is only included in the Premium plan. Compare plans

The fastest way to get your workshop into the control room: create a hall and load an industry template. Then adapt the floor plan to your real hall. By default, admin and planner may set it up.

Creating the first hall

  1. Open "Control room" in the sidebar. Without a hall it says "No hall yet".
  2. Click "Create first hall". Later you add more halls with "New hall" next to the hall tabs.
  3. In the "Create a new hall" dialog, enter a "Hall name", such as "Hall 1" or "Paint shop". The name has at most 60 characters and must be unique.
  4. Click "Create". On a PC or tablet the new hall opens straight in "Edit".

Roles without write access see a note instead of the button, saying that an admin or planner sets up the control room.

Loading an industry template

  1. In "Edit", click "Load template". In an empty hall the button also appears on the drawing area.
  2. Check the "Industry". It is preset from your company profile. The choices are "Joinery / carpentry", "Metalwork", "Electrical", "Plumbing / heating", "Painting / coating" and "Other".
  3. Read the preview (see below). It does not write anything yet.
  4. Click "Load template". Gantway reports "Template loaded" with a summary such as "3 created · 5 reused · 0 skipped".

Every template draws a hall with an office, a break room and a yard, plus walls, a gate and doors. It also brings its own grid size.

What the preview shows

  • "Will be reused": stations and workplaces you already have. Gantway looks for the same name first, then for the same type. Next to each it says whether the object comes "from storage" or "stays in this hall". Objects standing in another hall are never moved.
  • "Will be created": what this hall is still missing. Each object has a checkbox, plus "Select all" and "Deselect all". If the name already exists in another hall, the preview suggests a name with a new number and leaves the checkbox unticked at first.
  • "Moving to storage": objects that stand in this hall today but have no spot in the template. They remain unchanged in your master data.
  • "Skipped": objects for which there was no room at the template's spot.

Off-site objects such as a construction site or a service tour are created by a template but not placed. Such types do not stand in any hall.

Loading a template over an existing floor plan

If anything at all is already drawn in the hall, even just a label, a pillar or a stairway, the dialog warns you: the template replaces the floor plan completely. The button is then called "Replace and load". The previous state is not lost; it stays under Versions.

With sample data

If you started your account with sample data, there is already a hall with sample objects. The mission "Look at your workshop in the control room" takes you there. "Set up your company" later deletes the sample objects; the rooms of the hall remain. Gantway ticks off the setup checklist step "Lay out your workshop in the control room" as soon as one of your own objects is placed.

Renaming and deleting halls

Use the three-dot menu next to the hall tabs and choose "Rename" or "Delete". Up to 50 halls are possible. When deleting, the confirmation tells you how many placements are affected. The objects stay in your master data, but the hall and all its saved versions are gone afterwards.

Next: Drawing the floor plan.
