Releasing an order
Can't find a Release button? It's almost always down to the status: a draft has to be planned first. Here's the path and who's allowed to take it.
As long as an order is in the Draft status, you'll look for the Release button in vain. This isn't a bug but the sequence: Gantway doesn't let an order jump straight from draft into execution.
The path: plan first, then release
Both buttons sit at the top of the order (sidebar → Orders → open the order). Only this sequence is allowed:
- Draft — the order is created, you record work steps and dates.
- Planned — click "Plan". Only now does the next button appear.
- Released — click "Release". The order goes into execution.
A jump from Draft straight to Released is not provided for. Anyone looking for the Release button usually still has the "Plan" step ahead of them.
Who may release
By default, only the Admin and Planner roles may release. Team leaders and Employees don't see the button — not even when the order is correctly planned.
What release brings about
After release, the order appears for the assigned employees under "My Work". Before that, it isn't visible to them. Release is therefore the moment when your planning turns into a work instruction.
If the button is still missing
Go through these three points:
- Check the status: Is the order still on Draft? Then "Plan" first.
- Check your role: Are you logged in as Admin or Planner?
- Check the work steps: Work steps without an estimated time hold up the scheduling dialog — and without planning there is no release.
