Adding work steps (tasks)
There is no input form — and that is intentional. How to create and name work steps, and why there is nothing to schedule without them.
Work steps — tasks in Gantway — are the individual operations of an order: cutting, assembly, painting. They are what Gantway later schedules onto your work centers, stations, and employees.
Without tasks there is nothing to schedule — the order is then just a heading with no content.
How to create a task
Open the order (sidebar → Orders → click the order) and click "Add task" on the "Tasks" tab. By default, admin, planner and team lead may create and edit work steps.
Do not look for a form afterward: Gantway immediately creates a work step titled "New task" and expands it. You enter the name and all the details — time estimate, station, required qualification — right there, field by field.
The button only becomes usable once an order exists — before that, the checklist shows "Create an order first."
