Configuring working hours

Working days, hours, breaks and federal state — these settings determine how much capacity your planning actually has per day.

This step takes you to Settings → "Working Time Model" (sidebar bottom → Settings). Only the Admin role may change this page.

These settings count

  • "Working days" — which weekdays are worked (Mon–Fri, Mon–Sat, …)
  • "Start of work" and "End of work" — when the working day runs
  • "Break start" / "Break end" — fixed break times, optional
  • "Federal state" — Gantway uses this to calculate public holidays automatically

These values produce the net working time per day — and that determines how much Gantway can schedule on any given day at all. Anyone who enters 8 hours here but actually works 6 will later be puzzled by overly optimistic deadlines.

A short Friday? That belongs to the employee

The settings above are the company-wide frame. Anyone who works less on Fridays or is part-time gets their own weekly profile: Settings → "Team" → click the employee → "Edit" button → "Work Hours" section. There is an hours field for every weekday from "Mon" to "Sun", with the total "Target hours/week" underneath. Admin and planner may change it.

What is stored are hours, not times of day: a short Friday means "Fri = 5" here, not "until 1 p.m.". As soon as the profile holds any hours at all, it alone determines that employee's daily target — a day set to 0 then carries no target either. If the profile is left completely empty, the company-wide hours from above apply.

One special case in the Business plan: the profile can be entered there, but the "Working hours" section in the employee record is only shown from Pro upwards. The hours still affect the daily target — they just cannot be read off later, only seen via "Edit".

Company holidays — such as Christmas or a company-wide vacation — are also entered here. Those days are then unavailable to planning as capacity.

Auch bekannt als: working time model, capacity, public holidays, breaks, working days, federal state, short Friday, part-time.
