Access restricted or frozen

When nothing can be saved anymore: the three subscription causes, what still works in read-only mode — and the fastest way back.

Suddenly nothing can be created or changed anymore, and saving brings up "Your access is restricted. Please renew your subscription."? Then the business is in read-only mode.

The causes

  1. Trial expired — after the 14 days without signing up for a subscription.
  2. Cancellation effective — the canceled subscription has reached the end of its period (a paused subscription has the same effect).
  3. Payment failure — the grace period after a failed payment has elapsed.

The banner in the app names the respective cause and leads directly to the right place via "Choose plan" or "Update payment method".

What still works — and what doesn't

It works: all reading and viewing, the data exports (including the GDPR disclosure), signing out, the complete billing page — and, as a deliberate exception, ending ongoing processes: an open timer can be stopped, an open shift can be clocked out.

It doesn't work: any creating, changing, or deleting — including new timers.

Your data is safe. Read-only mode deletes nothing; it waits.

Back to active

Sign up for or reactivate a subscription under Settings → "My Plan"; for payment problems, update the payment method under Settings → "Billing" (both visible to the Admin only) — both are exempt from read-only mode. After successful payment, access switches back automatically.

A locked feature is something else

Not every padlock is read-only mode. If a feature simply is not part of your plan, it appears dimmed or with a padlock marker next to it — but it stays clickable. The click opens "Upgrade erforderlich" (upgrade required) with the line naming the plan it is available from, plus "Tarife ansehen" (view plans) for the admin (otherwise the note that only an administrator can change the plan) and "Später" (later) to close. The business keeps working normally throughout — everywhere else, creating and changing is fine. Which feature sits in which plan is shown in The plans compared.

Auch bekannt als: Read-only mode, restricted, frozen, cannot save, subscription expired, upgrade required, feature locked.
