Payment failed — what now?
After a failed charge, a grace period begins. What to do during that time, what happens automatically — and what applies once the deadline passes.
A failed charge — expired card, insufficient funds — does not lock anything immediately. A grace period begins (by default 7 days).
During the grace period
The app shows a red banner: "Payment failed. Please update your payment method." along with the time remaining ("Access will be restricted in X days.") and the button "Update payment method", which leads directly to Settings → "Billing" (visible to the Admin only).
There is exactly one thing to do: update the payment method. The charge is then retried automatically — once the payment goes through, the banner disappears and everything continues as normal. By the way, the deadline starts at the moment of the failed charge, not with the first glance at the banner.
If the bank requires confirmation (3-D Secure), the admins receive the notification "Payment authentication required" with a link to the same page.
Once the deadline passes
If the deadline passes without payment, access is restricted to read-only mode — details under Access restricted. No data is ever lost: reading, export, and the billing page remain accessible, and the way back is via the updated payment method.
