The 3D view in the control room stutters or is missing

What helps when the scene runs slowly or the control room only shows the list: graphics level "Low", reload the page, hardware acceleration, an up-to-date browser.

This feature is only included in the Premium plan. Compare plans

The live view of the control room draws the hall as a 3D scene in the browser. For this, the computer needs a graphics interface called WebGL and some processing power. If either is lacking, the control room shows the list. It contains the same information as the scene, just without 3D.

On a phone, by the way, the list is not an error: unless you have chosen otherwise, the live view starts with it below a width of 768 pixels. You can switch yourself at any time via "Scene" and "List", and the browser remembers your choice.

The scene stutters

  1. Lower the graphics level. In the live view's control bar, set "Graphics" to "Low". The app explains: "Graphics quality on this device: “Low” saves battery and weak computers, “High” draws finer shadows and smoother motion using the strongest graphics chip." The choice applies to this browser on this device, not to your account.
  2. End the presentation. The "Presentation" button switches on all effects and is meant for demonstrations, not for everyday use.
  3. Close other programs and tabs that also need a lot of graphics power, such as video conferences or other 3D views.

Gantway checks for itself at startup: if the scene runs too slowly on the device, the view switches to "Low" on its own. If that is still not enough, it changes to the list and reports: "The 3D view was too slow on this device — showing the list for this session." This applies until you close the browser tab. You can still try again via "Scene".

Only the list appears, with a WebGL notice

The message reads: "The 3D view needs WebGL, which this browser or device does not provide. The list view shows the same information."

It appears in two cases: either the browser does not offer WebGL at all, or the graphics card lost the scene along the way and did not return it within a few seconds, for example after waking from standby, with a great many open tabs or after a driver restart. Proceed in this order:

  1. Reload the page. In the second case the scene is usually back afterwards.
  2. Switch on hardware acceleration. It is in the browser settings, in Chrome and Edge under "System", in Firefox under "General" → "Performance". Then restart the browser.
  3. Use an up-to-date browser, that is a current version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
  4. Update the graphics driver if the notice keeps coming back on a particular computer. On company devices, IT usually takes care of this.

If none of this helps, keep working with the list. It shows objects, inbox, shipping zone and people in full and can also be used with a keyboard and screen reader.

The workshop TV has its own check and switches to "Monitor light" by itself if the device is too weak (Setting up the hall monitor). If orders or people are missing from the scene, on the other hand, the cause is the data, not the graphics: Why is my hall empty?
