Correcting stock levels

The counted stock doesn't match Gantway? The correction entry balances out the difference — as a delta, not as a new target value.

Eight boards on the shelf, but Gantway says ten? The movement type "Correction" evens that out.

How to correct a stock level

  1. Open Inventory in the sidebar, tab "Articles".
  2. In the article's row, click "Book". The "Inventory Booking" panel opens.
  3. Choose "Correction" as the "Movement type".
  4. Under "Quantity", enter the difference, not the target level. The hint below the field says which way round: "Positive = inbound, Negative = outbound." In the example above, that means −2.
  5. Fill in "Comment / Reason". For corrections this is mandatory — otherwise Gantway reports "Reason is required for corrections."
  6. Click "Book". Gantway confirms: "Booking successful."

If the level would slip below zero, Gantway warns beforehand: "Warning: This booking will result in negative stock."

The reason stays in the movement history permanently — in six months nobody will otherwise remember why the level jumped. Good examples: "stock count difference, inventory 07/2026", "breakage in transit". By default admin, planner and purchasing/inventory may correct stock (see Roles and permissions).

A side effect with open orders

Gantway reads a positive correction as goods received: material line items with the status "Ordered" jump automatically to "Delivered", provided the new stock covers their open demand. If you are only evening out a counting difference while a delivery is genuinely still outstanding, check the procurement status in the to-buy list afterwards.

Auch bekannt als: correction, wrong stock, difference, stocktake, shrinkage, goods receipt, book in a delivery, delivery arrived.
