Purchase and sale price on the article
Purchase and sale price are master data on the article — without history. How they flow into quotes and why a snapshot is created there.

Two prices can be stored on the article: the purchase price (what the purchase costs) and the sale price (what the customer is charged). Both are optional.
Maintaining
The purchase-price and sale-price fields are in the creation and edit form of the article (sidebar → Inventory → "Articles" tab); the article table shows both as columns. Like all article data, they are maintained by default by Admin and Purchasing/Warehouse.
Master data without history
The prices are the current state — Gantway keeps no price history on the article. When the purchase price is changed, the old value on the article is gone.
From the purchase and sale price, the "Markup" per material line item results in the quote — anyone who maintains both prices sees at a glance what is earned on the material.
