Gantway keeps stock as a posting journal: every movement is appended, nothing is overwritten. The stock shown is simply the sum of all movements (up to 4 decimal places — even 2.5 linear meters can be posted).
The three posting types
The "Book" button in the article row opens the "Inventory Booking" form with three types. It sits in the sidebar under Inventory → "Articles" tab, and likewise on the "Stock Overview" tab:
- "Initial stock" is the initial fill, positive quantities only.
- Correction balances out discrepancies, with a mandatory reason. Details in the correction article.
- Withdrawal books material out; the quantity is automatically counted as negative. Details in the withdrawal article.
By default, Admin, Planner and Purchasing/Warehouse may post.
The movement history
Every item has a "Movement History" with date, quantity, comment, "Booked by" and status; the clock icon in the article row opens it. Cancelled postings remain visible with a strikethrough, and the reversing entry carries the "Reversal entry" marker. The history has no gaps.
Good to know: "Initial stock" can technically be posted more than once, and each further initial-stock posting adds. For later adjustments, the correction is the right type.
