Withdrawing material for an order
Withdrawal in the order's Material tab: requirement, withdrawn, open and stock at a glance — and which line items are (still) locked.
Material is withdrawn where the requirement is: in the order's Material tab (sidebar → Orders → open the order → "Material" tab). All roles may do this — even employees without access to the inventory page.
How the withdrawal works
On the material line item, "Withdraw" opens a form with four tiles: Requirement, Withdrawn, Open and Stock. Into the "Withdrawal quantity" field goes what is actually taken — partial withdrawals are normal, and the open remainder stays.
If stock is insufficient, Gantway warns you — but does not block. A withdrawal beyond the open requirement also goes through; the line item is then flagged as over-withdrawn. Reality in the workshop wins; conspicuous stock levels are corrected later in inventory.
When a withdrawal is possible
Two conditions must be met:
- The order is "Released" or "In progress".
- The line item is set to "Delivered" or "From inventory". Line items with status "To order" or "Ordered" are locked — what isn't there yet can't be withdrawn. Rejected line items and those marked "Not needed" are also closed.
Distinction: Only Admin and Planner may create and change line items — details in the article Material per order. To book out material without an order reference, use the withdrawal on the inventory page.
