Task status: Start, Done — and Overdue
Open, In progress, Done: how to switch the status — and why "Overdue" has nothing to do with the deadline.
Every work step, also called a task in "My Work", has one of three statuses: Open → In progress → Done. In "My Work" (sidebar → My Work), the quick buttons "In Progress" (short on mobile: "Start") and "Done" switch the status with one click. Every role except Purchasing/Warehouse may make the switch.
The rules
- No jump from Open straight to Done. Start first, then finish. In passing, this creates an honest picture of what is really in progress right now.
- A timer starts the task too. If you start the timer on an open task, it switches to In progress right away. The same applies to the first time booking. If the order is still "Released", it switches to "In progress" as well.
- Done stops running timers. When you mark a task as done, Gantway stops every timer running on that task, including those of colleagues, and books the measured time. As with a normal stop, nothing is booked under 30 seconds.
- Steps back are allowed. A task marked done too early goes back to In progress, one started by accident goes back to Open.
What "Overdue" really means
Completed tasks are never marked as overdue.
Also known as: start task, change status, overdue, mark as done, in progress.
