Setting up company holidays
Closed for Christmas, a bridge day off: company-wide days off in the work calendar — either as a gift or as mandated company vacation.
Is the workshop closed between the years? That belongs in the sidebar at the very bottom under Settings → "Working Time Model", card "Company vacations" — described as "Company-wide days off (e.g. Christmas break)". You enter a single day or a date range — only the Admin may change the working time model.
The crucial choice: free or deducted from vacation?
Every entry has two modes, controlled by the checkbox "Counts as vacation (vacation deduction)":
- "Additionally free" (default, checkbox off) — works like an extra public holiday: no working day, no target hours, no vacation used. The company gives the days.
- "Vacation deduction" (checkbox on) — the days are deducted from employees' vacation allowance: Gantway creates an approved vacation entry for each person. The company is closed and the staff bring their own vacation.
Effect on planning
In "Additionally free" mode, company holidays act like public holidays: the days drop out of capacity, the cascade plans around them, and the working-days count skips them. In "Vacation deduction" mode, by contrast, the day remains a working day on the calendar — the people are absent via their automatically created vacation entries.
