The vacation allowance
Vacation days are maintained on the employee, not in absences. How the balance is calculated — and why part-time staff are treated fairly.
How many vacation days someone has is maintained in the sidebar at the very bottom under Settings → "Team" on the employee — not in the absences area. The field is called "Vacation days/year" (0 to 365, default 30); by default, Admin and Planner may change it.
Maintenance and balance
If someone joins mid-year, Gantway automatically suggests a pro-rata entitlement — accept it or overwrite it, both work.
The "Vacation Balance" card under Absences → "My Absences" tab shows the status: "Vacation days/year", "Used" and "Remaining" — the check before a request. What was carried over from the previous year and when it expires is explained in the remaining-vacation article.
The fair count
This makes the allowance automatically part-time-fair — there is no need to manually convert "vacation weeks" into models with fewer working days.
