The conflict diagnosis: why is this a problem?

Before Gantway resolves a conflict, it shows what exactly is colliding. Every entry in the Conflicts list carries a "Resolve" button for that, visible by default to admins, planners and team leads as well as to Purchasing/Warehouse. It opens the resolve dialog, and that starts with the diagnosis. What Purchasing/Warehouse can run there is covered under Resolving conflicts via suggestions. A click on an entry in the red conflict counter, for example in the team dock, opens the same dialog.

The diagnosis is calculated fresh when opened, not preserved from the moment the conflict arose. If the problem has since resolved itself, because someone rescheduled or material arrived, the dialog says so honestly: "Already resolved" with "This conflict no longer exists." If the conflict was still in the list until a moment ago, Gantway closes it right away: "This conflict no longer existed and has now been closed."

Four representations, depending on the conflict type

At the top there is always the conflict's descriptive sentence, e.g. "Workstation "Planing bench 1" is overbooked on 06.10.2026 (3 of 2 occupied)." Below it:

• Timeline for absence, double booking and workstation and station overbooking: the colliding periods stacked, with the note "N working days overlap". For an overbooking, each task involved gets its own row; an order that sits on the workstation as a whole is marked "Whole order". If the tasks are scheduled to the hour, the dialog states the overlap in hours. Below that, "Orders involved" lists the affected orders, each with an "Open" button. This way you also see which other order occupies the same station or workstation.
• Stock calculation for a material shortage: Open demand, In stock and the resulting Shortfall, plus "Of which … for this order". The addition "Demand also arises from other orders." shows that the shortage does not depend on this order alone.
• Staffing overview for a missing qualification: which requirement is not met, plus "Available alternatives", meaning colleagues who have the qualification, with their utilization in the period. If the item has no date yet, "Qual. ✓" appears instead of the utilization. If nobody fits: "No suitable, available person found at the moment."
• Profile for violated dependencies. It names both dates, e.g. ""Assembly" starts on 07.10.2026, "Cutting" only ends on 08.10.2026." Below that, "Orders involved" lists the affected orders with their items, each with an "Open" button.
